Richard C. Kovach, M.D., was recently appointed as the new Chair of the Department of Endovascular Medicine and the new Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at Deborah Heart and Lung Center.
Dr. Kovach brings an impressive blend of clinical skills, laboratory research experience and tremendous passion for his work. His appointment marks a new chapter in the future of Deborah’s catheterization labs.
For the past two decades, Dr. Kovach has been in private practice in southern New Jersey and has worked at many of South Jersey and Pennsylvania’s leading hospitals. Most recently, he developed endovascular services at the Guthrie Clinic in Sayre, Pa., before returning to South Jersey.
Impressive education
A graduate of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md., Dr. Kovach subsequently studied health services administration at the Johns Hopkins University School of Hygiene and Public Health (now called the Bloomberg School of Public Health). He earned his medical degree from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pa., where he also performed his internal medicine internship and residency, and served fellowships in both cardiology and clinical invasive cardiology. Dr. Kovach is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology. In addition to his medical accomplishments, Dr. Kovach is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Drexel University College of Medicine’s Hahnemann University Hospital.
