Meet our diabetes team!

The Joslin Diabetes Center Affiliate at Deborah Heart and Lung Center provides state-of-the-art diabetes treatment and education. The Joslin team works directly with patients who have diabetes and their families to achieve the best outcomes. Each Joslin patient receives individualized care, starting with an initial assessment and treatment plan.

Medical Director Jenine Vecchio, M.D., FACE, oversees the clinical practice at the Center, evaluates and diagnoses patients, chooses appropriate therapy and coordinates all aspects of care with Joslin team members.

Because education is essential to the successful management of diabetes, Diabetes Education Coordinator Joan Stewart, M.S., R.D., C.D.E., and Nurse Educator Monica Hauser, B.S.N., R.N., C.D.E., help patients achieve the knowledge and skills they need to care for their diabetes. Stewart and Hauser also help patients with problem-solving issues and coping skills so that they can make decisions to improve their health. Every Joslin patient receives a customized meal plan and dietitian follow-up to evaluate the plan's effectiveness, scheduled by Practice Assistant Georgia Zissimopoulos.
